A lot can happen over an Fbuk ‘Status Update’ !!

Well, it was just another Status update that I had posted over this weekend. Copied and pasted the words of an enlightened one, giving him due credits – no plagiarism you see ☺

I wrote:
“Desire is beautiful, there is nothing wrong in it — only free it from objects. Freedom from objects ! — and desire is divine.” OSHO

As I always feel after such posts, I was happy that I had posted something good, and it might float over the net to reach the apt set of minds.

To be very honest, I had not expected this to happen, but I was surprised to see a response from a friend of mine.

She said,
“free it from objects.. which means don’t desire materialistic things… then what do we desire ??”

..and it rang bells !! I am really thankful to our “thought-weaver and supplier”, whosoever he/she is (God/Nature..call it anything), that this thought sprung up in my friend’s mind. It lead me to introspect and think about this “update” – I soon realized that this was more than a status update .. much more !!

The “thought-weaver” in me helped me find some response to this. I am glad about that. Seems to be an apt one so far. What occurred to me is :
“..desire for what u derive out of those objects – desire for the ‘happiness’ , ‘satisfaction’ etc – the final ‘feel’ that u get out of an object, person, relationship etc. Let’s NOT stick to : I wanna be happy using this ‘thing’ ..or by this ‘person’…lets simply desire that ‘I wanna be happy’..this way the desire becomes limitless. Becomes easier for Nature/Almighty to help us .. lets not give him choices n options..that I wanna be happy by eating pizza… lets desire that I wanna feel that satisfaction that comes out of a lovely meal 🙂 … BTW – even I am on a learning journey – this is what I could derive from it. Hope that helped !! Cheers.”

Just thought of sharing with you all – so this note/blog !!

This small interaction changed something in me – I feel ‘enriched’ ☺

Thanks for your time to read through my friend.

Best wishes.

It's all about perspectives !!

JORAD : Just One Rupee A Day

Together with my friends, we could contribute FOOD worth around Rs.12K for an Old Age Home in Noida.

I introduced this initiative at my workplace around 3 years back – its called JORAD: Just One Rupee A Day..in which folks contribute voluntarily ..an amount of Re.1 per day (or more)..and after every quarter we visit various places who need us 🙂

This was the 4th major season for JORAD…it’s a nice experience every time. More so that it involves so many people across our floor ..who may not know each other even but do end up collaborating and that too for such a noble cause. And with just one rupee a day.. it doesn’t hurt anyone too. it’s a Win Win for all 🙂

Feels nice !!

Best wishes to YOU and to all those who make YOU happy 🙂

P.S.: Friends, may be you can promote this concept further in your circles..its so ‘doable’ !! Thanks!!

Prajwala : You may end up ‘realizing’ something and helping a ‘human’ cause. Read On !!

Hi all,

Forwarding a message I got from one of my close friends. Please check.
You may end up ‘realizing’ something and helping a ‘human’ cause.

For a quick info, plz watch this .. infact you MUST watch this :http://www.ted.com/talks/sunitha_krishnan_tedindia.html

P.S.: See fwd text for details.

Hello friends! 🙂

I am writing this to bring to your notice a cause that I personally feel is not getting its due importance. Some of you may have seen the TED talk by Dr. Sunitha Krishnan and a few of you may have read about it on my blog or other places. But she is basically the founder of Prajwala, an anti-trafficking organization in India.

If you have not already done so, it is my (very humble) request to you to check out her TED talk at the link below. I am asking you to do so simply because no amount of writing that I do here will do justice to the enormity of the problem faced by tens of thousands of women and children that Prajwala is trying to help. So please read the rest of this note only after watching that video and only if you are interested in doing more.

After watching that video, I was left pretty horrified and I tried to read up more on trafficking and also see ways to help Dr. Krishnan and her efforts. In the process, I also stumbled upon Prajwala page on Facebook and to my utter disappointment found that it has less 200 members. For an organization that has saved 3200 women and more than 5000 children, that is just pathetic. It shows that either people are unaware about it, or they chose to ignore it.

If you think you want to make a small gesture to this cause at all, I think a good way to start is to follow the FB page at the link below. They have plenty of eye opening videos there that you could watch. Joining a FB page might not look like doing much but it can still help making it a topic of conversation and showing support to the cause.

Please join it only if you sincerely believe that people should be aware of the horrendous acts happening around them and if you feel that you must take a small step, in any whichever way, to stop them. There are no obligations at all! 🙂

Phone FRAUDS !! Sharing my own experience..for a Word of Caution !!

Hi all,

Just wanted to share some info with you, so that you are out of any sorts of trouble ☺

I got a call this morning, supposedly from Airtel, stating that I’ve won some lottery. The way that guy spoke wasn’t so convincing. So, I enquired the same from Airtel and got to know that this was a FRAUD. Please refer to the details in the text given below. It’ll help.

Please spread the word if you feel like !!

Thanks and take care.

Subject: URGENT : Airtel LOTTERY – FRAUD or TRUE ??

This is regarding a phone call that I received from supposedly an Airtel executive. Please read on and assist me.

I got a call from one Mr. Sunil today (20 March 2010 9:39 A.M.) from this phone no.: +923437831712.

He mentioned that he was calling from Airtel Mumbai and informed me that I have won an Airtel Lottery worth Rs.25Lakhs on my phone number.

He further added that to claim this amount I need to do the following:
1. Call up this no. – 009 230 5500 3595
2. ..and ask for Senior Supervisor Vijay Kumar .
3. ..and supposedly Vijay will tell me how to proceed.

Now, I just want to confirm this thing with Airtel as I have had no clue of such a lottery being held. Please assist me by confirming the same.

Also Mr.Sunil did not sound like a groomed customer care guy, thereby raising a few doubts !!

Please suggest.

Looking forward to your response.

Warm Regards
Aditya Pathak

Response from Airtel

Dear Aditya Pathak,

Thank you for contacting Airtel.

You have inquired about the details of lottery for your Airtel mobile number 9xxxxxxxxx.

Everything we do, can become CREATIVE !!

Creativity has nothing to do with any activity in particular – with painting, poetry, dancing, singing. It has nothing to do with anything in particular.

A 'famous' face, carved out on a water-melon !!

Anything can be creative – WE bring that quality to the activity. Activity itself is neither creative nor uncreative. WE can paint in an uncreative way. WE can sing in an uncreative way. WE can clean the floor in a creative way. WE can cook in a creative way.

Creativity is the quality that WE bring to the activity we are doing. It is an ATTITUDE, an Inner-Approach – how WE look at things.

The Yellow Page !!

The monk who..

According to some ancient beliefs, Yellow is the color of “intellect”. (They say so on Discovery Channel ..must be right!!)

Well, yellow is the color of many other things too, but let’s take it offline – I need to maintain hygiene, am not keeping too well!!

Ya, so we were talking about “intellect”. Throughout my life, till now, I have never felt so ‘intellectual’ as I am feeling since the holy day of Christmas. The intellect levels have been on a steep rise since then – and you can see that “enlightenment” in my eyes too.

And to match this bliss in my eyes, I’ve even got myself a buddhist-monk types haircut too !! Yes it’s my portrait out there 🙂

But, on the contrary, the doctors prefer calling it Jaundice!! And what an irony, our every single effort since then has been to lose this yellow thing 🙂

Well, probably am on ‘the road less traveled’ now…recovering .. by shedding this ‘intellect’…to be with the common mankind.

“The monk who shed his Yellow” (yukk!! ..hey think hygienic plz) – am thinking of writing this book. So guys, here I come.

Hmmm… pardon me for taking this long route. Am on bed-rest since around 480 hours now… So u wud understand the state of my mind,  the sense of restlessness I am in due to this bed-rest.. the irritation of being cut-off from my friends, Music, office, my car etc etc.

Well, what I meant to say could have been said more easily as – Dear friends, I have been hit by viral jaundice since Christmas and am blossoming like a sunflower – Yellow is the color. Again, no dirty thoughts please – the doctor has asked me to maintain hygiene you see 🙂

The good thing is that I’m sliding downwards on the Jaundice bell-curve now and am hopeful of recovering by early Feb. Let’s see. Amen!

Thanks for reading through. Just few more days and I’ll be as ‘intellectual’ as the normal mankind 😉

God bless you my friend 🙂
