In this episode we learn about the Delhi of pre-Qutub times and the rise and downfalls of this capital city. We climb atop the ruins of massive walls of Lal Kot ..its a lovely view up there! From one of the highest points in this ridge, we then spot no less than 7 heritage monuments scattered in the Mehrauli area – Quli Khan‘s tomb, Alai Minar, Imam Zamin‘s tomb, Qutub Minar, Yogmaya temple, Gurudwara Banda Bahadur and Maham Anga/Adham Khan‘s tomb ..and some chitchat about these places of interest Awesome fun it was. Here’s our latest Heritage Walk film 🙂 It’s the mammoth TUGHLUQABAD FORT this time that we visited in Dec 2012. The film showcases in detail most of structures, ruins, etc that lie behind the gigantic walls of this fort and also the walk-leader discusses, in detail, the stories and history associated with the same.
Tughluqabad is a 14th century capital of Delhi (India). The remains of this massive complex stretch as far as the eye can see. It includes a royal tomb which once stood in a lake, palace buildings, dungeons and a secret escape route !
