The Rising Sun – Heritage & Healing tour at Surajkund

Welcome to the land of “the rising sun”.. the 10th century Sun Temple and reservoir – Surajkund ..located amidst the tranquil surroundings of Aravalis! In this tour we will discuss about the evolution of this neighborhood since the ancient till the modern times, the architectural style found here and other significant chapters in the history of Delhi. We will also together experience a unique energy healing and musical meditation session while wandering amidst the relics of an ancient Sun Temple!

We highly encourage you to bring kids and other kin along for this beautiful journey πŸ™‚ It might rain, making it double the fun.. please dress accordingly and carry along an umbrella if you like. Some meditation activities might involve touching and feeling rocks, trees, soil etc. (optional). Please carry along hand sanitiser, if needed. It’s a longish trail and food might not be available at the venue. Feel free to carry along some snacks and typical picnic food.

The terrain is mostly easy. The ascend to the temple and the descend to the reservoir includes some stairs and stone blocks to be manoeuvred.

Exploring “Sanjay Van – Qila Lal Kot” – Episode #4

In this episode we learn about the Delhi of pre-Qutub times and the rise and downfalls of this capital city. We climb atop the ruins of massive walls of Lal Kot ..its a lovely view up there! From one of the highest points in this ridge, we then spot no less than 7 heritage monuments scattered in the Mehrauli area – Quli Khan‘s tomb, Alai Minar, Imam Zamin‘s tomb, Qutub Minar, Yogmaya temple, Gurudwara Banda Bahadur and Maham Anga/Adham Khan‘s tomb ..and some chitchat about these places of interest Awesome fun it was. One of the key ridge areas in Delhi, Sanjay Van (a City Forest) houses a plethora of Flora and Fauna within. There are hamaams, ponds, lakes, blue bulls, butterflies, peacocks and whole lot of forms in which LIFE manifests in this green lung of Delhi! And all of this is safely secured within the walls of the historical QILA LAL KOT – a fort that has seen Delhi in all its known and unknown forms right from the pre-Sultanate days! From the top of the fort walls we also get a beautiful view of several heritage structures adorning the adjoining historical village of Mehrauli.
