  • Ashoka’s Pillar near Northern Ridge Delhi

    One of the two Ashokan pillars in Delhi is at Northern Ridge. It stands on the road between Mutiny Memorial & Hindu Rao Hospital. Built by Ashoka during ancient times, transported to Delhi in the 14th cent by a curious king & then interpreted by the Orientalists. Here’s a video which talks about this pillar…

  • Hindu Rao Hospital and the Revolt of 1857!

    Not many are aware about how the Hindu Rao Hospital (Delhi) is associated to the Revolt of 1857!! This building was once the bungalow of a “White Mughal” William Fraser.. and has witnessed a lot of action during the days of the sepoy mutiny. This quick video throws some more light on this aspect.   • The Baoli near Pir Ghaib (behind Hindu Rao Hospital, Delhi)

    Much closer to Pir Ghaib (shown in the previous episode)..there’s this massive Baoli (step-well) right behind the Hindu Rao Hospital. This was used to provide water to the 14th century hunting-lodge and observatory and other nearby areas. Happy Exploring!
