DELHI BLOG OF THE WEEK
Video Explorations

Here’s a blog that takes chronicling the experience of discovering a place, out of paper, and onto reel. The blog is a collection of videos about blogger Aditya Pathak’s exploration of the city, and his love for music. It has some elaborate and informative films documenting his walks around heritage sites and other places of interest in Delhi.
The videos on the blog carry with them historical stories and anecdotes, which are easy and fun to connect with. “During my first visit to the Mehrauli Archeological Park, I realised that audio-visuals and storytelling make the process of learning quite easy. Had I been in school, I wouldn’t have to mug up history books and hate the subject so much. That’s when I decided to create these videos,” says Pathak, an IT professional who believes that while it is fun making these films, he has also ended up creating a sort of learning aid for students.
What emerges as its USP is the fact that the videos bring the places to you, in a fairly unadulterated form and without any artificial props — in a way a commoner would see them.
One such video is of the Mehrauli heritage walk, which features Rajon Ki Baoli, Ghiyasuddin Balban’s tomb, Metcalfe’s Estate and Folly. These videos tell the tale of the coming in existence of these monuments and the people related to them. Other noteworthy videos found on the blog are on the Okhla Bird Sanctuary and Bakhtiar Kaki’s Dargah. Although most of the videos here are centred on archeological visits, Pathak says that he has realised the true cosmopolitan essence of the city through these explorations.
